How the Blog Works/Writer’s Guidelines
By cori • Jan 18th, 2009 • Category: The Momoir BlogWelcome to the Momoir blog! It’s been two years now since I started teaching Writing for Moms to a group of extremely cool women in Vancouver, on a lark. I put up some flyers in my neighborhood and quickly gathered together a group of ten writer moms. We met in a tiny, organic café and shared our stories: of identity crisis, of marital discord, of career woes. It wasn’t what I expected. I cried as often as they did and was awed not only by their bravery and honesty in telling their stories, but by the quality of their writing.
This blog is a chance to show all Momoir Project readers your writing. It is not my blog. It’s your blog. It’s a community endeavor, an attempt to bring all of our diverse voices together for inspiration and connection.
I’ve set it up so all Momoir Project students, and any writer moms for that matter, can meet virtually online to write together and share stories and inspiration. The blog has several regular contributors, among them my former online student, Karen Bannister in Ontaraio, Liesel Jurock in B.C., Stephanie Shaner in Utah, Danielle Christopher and Jane Potter in B.C., Heather Ross in Saskatchewan.
This is how it works. These writer moms will be blogging about their own lives once a week, along with new writing prompts. Please use these writing starts for inspiration and we would really appreciate it if you could send your comments, or cut and paste your stories on that topic, to the blog. That way our blog will become a virtual feedback forum, so that you can all talk to each other about your writing and your experiences as a mom.
If you would like to submit a blog, please email is to cori@themomoirproject.com for consideration. We are looking for stories that are tightly-woven scenes and no more than 500 words. Join The Momoir Project writing community and share your story today!

Hi Cori,
I would love to win the 50% off the spring writing class because it would allow me to be part of another fantastic writing group. While, I am still paying the last course “Writing for Moms” off on my credit card I have also just recently had a full radical hysterectomy at 37 years of age!! While my body is resting and recovering I want to tap in and write another article.
Take Care,
Jen
